Jambo! Welcome Friends!

Jambo is the Swahili greeting in East Africa similar to Hello in English! It is with excitement and pleasure that I welcome to you to my site. My name is Kisanii (Creative) Liz and I am passionate about African fabrics. The vibrancy, beauty and individuality of the plethora of designs in wax and java fabrics moves me to create beautiful clothing designs and quilts. As the founder and creative impetus behind Kisanii Liz Ankara Textiles, I began this love affair almost 25 years ago as a young woman raising small children.

After a prolific career as a musician, having performed  in the orchestras of such greats as Natalie Cole and Smokey Robinson, I soon after turned my efforts to clothing and quilt designs.  As my children were growing up I began to design specialty clothing  and quilts for them and for my friends as well.

Thus my career as a quilt and clothing designer began!

My company Kisanii Liz Ankara Textiles would like for you to take this  journey with me as I share with you this raw passion and energy using fabric as my medium while honoring the timeless nature of diverse cultural traditions.
